In booth # 2327, NuSil will highlight a newly developed material, MED-6670, a curable coating that decreases the coefficient of friction (CoF) of the underlying silicone surface by a minimum of 50%, when compared to a non-coated silicone surface.
Silicone elastomers inherently have a high degree of surface tack and a tendency for blocking (sticking to themselves by virtue of chemical affinity), which may cause problems in applications where they come in contact with each other or other surfaces. MED-6670 is designed to overcome these obstacles in applications where silicones come in contact with each other, such as precision molded parts, molded rubber stoppers or O-rings.
Bob Umland, National Sales Manager, will highlight this material in a free presentation on Tuesday, February 9 at 12:50PM in booth number 639 titled “Non-migrating, Low Coefficient of Friction Coating”.
We’ll also be highlighting a previously promoted material, MED-4286, an ultra-soft elastomer with a feel similar to a firm gel but greater physical properties. This product is ideal for potting, encapsulating or molding devices.
