NuSil Technology was founded as a small startup in 1979 in Carpinteria, just north of Los Angeles. Since then, it has grown to become one of the largest specialty silicone suppliers in the world. It operates state-of-the-art laboratories and manufacturing facilities in California and Texas, in addition to technical service centers in Europe and throughout Asia.
Chief Executive Officer
Ernest Waaser is the Chief Executive Officer of NuSil Technology and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Having joined NuSil in early 2015, he brings over 30 years of experience leading numerous public and privately-held healthcare companies.
Prior to NuSil, Ernest was the Chief Executive Officer of Systagenix Wound Management, President of Teleflex Medical, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hill-Rom and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Sterling Diagnostic Imaging.
Ernest is an engineer by training and spent the first 18 years of his career at DuPont primarily in its chemical and industrial businesses.
He holds a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering from Mississippi State University and a Master of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the University of South Carolina.

Chief Compliance Officer
Tom Banigan is responsible for executive management of corporate quality assurance, regulatory and legal affairs. He has 30 years of experience in quality assurance and regulatory compliance in silicones at NuSil, where he oversees all quality, regulatory and legal functions and is the primary contact with USFDA and international regulatory authorities regarding product submission support.
Chief Financial Officer
Sarah L. Burton serves as the Chief Financial Officer and has over 25 years of financial leadership experience in both public and private companies.
Vice President, Life Sciences
Julie Cameron is Vice President of Life Sciences, overseeing Medical Implants, General Healthcare and CareSil®, NuSil’s skin care brand. Ms. Cameron brings nearly 30 years of marketing and commercial experience in the life sciences and silicone markets to this role.
Vice President, Human Resources and EHS
Dawn Howard has 18 years of engineering, quality assurance and regulatory compliance experience in silicones at NuSil and has held previous positions in engineering and engineering management within the company. She is currently a board member of the Santa Barbara CAER (Community Awareness and Emergency Response) Executive Committee, the Committee Secretary for ASTM E21(Space Simulation) and a member of the California Waste Association.
President and Chief Commercial Officer
Scott Mraz is the President and Chief Commercial Officer of NuSil Technology and also serves as a member of the Board of Directors. Scott joined NuSil in 2005 and has global responsibility for all strategic and business development activities including Sales, Marketing, Communication, Customer Service, Product Development, Mergers and Acquisitions, Partnerships and other growth-related initiatives. Scott held several positions at NuSil including Chief Financial Officer and Vice President of Sales and Marketing, before formally assuming the positions of President in 2010 and Chief Commercial Officer in 2015.
Vice President, Advanced Engineering
Brian Nash has over 30 years of silicone experience, including formulation development and business development. Prior to taking on the Vice President of Advanced Engineering position at NuSil, Brian served in a variety of disciplines within the company, including product development management and marketing and sales management.
Brian earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.
Vice President, Research and Development
Keith Reichel has 25 years of silicone experience at NuSil, where he has held various positions in research and development management. Prior to joining NuSil, Keith held several research positions in the field of biochemistry.
Keith earned a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from the University of California, Davis.
Mary E. Russell, MD, FACC
Dr. Mary Russell serves as President of Trelyst. She is a physician executive with broad concept-to-commercial development experience spanning startup and Fortune 500 companies in the biotech and medical device space. Trained as a chemist, Mary is board certified in Internal Medicine & Cardiology with 15 years’ patient care and research experience at Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
Chief Operating Officer
Jim Smith oversees all engineering, research and development, manufacturing and supply chain operations at NuSil. Prior to joining NuSil in 2013, Jim spent 25 years at Dow Corning in various executive roles, including Vice President of Manufacturing & Supply Chain Operations, Specialty Chemicals Business Vice President of Manufacturing and Business Product Line Management, Midland Site Manager, Executive Director of Global Logistics, and Specialty Chemicals Asia Business Director.
Vice President, Engineering
Jim Yabsley has three decades of engineering experience at NuSil, during the course of which he has held various engineering and engineering management positions. He has been directly involved with all aspects of growing the NuSil infrastructure and processes since the company’s inception. Jim is proficient in design, planning, permitting and management of facility construction, from green field to operational plant. Jim also oversees the management of Morehouse Cowles, NuSil’s subsidiary mixer company. Prior to joining NuSil, Jim was an officer in the United States Nuclear Submarine Program.
Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from California Polytechnic, San Luis Obispo and participated in the U.S. Navy Nuclear Engineering Program.
NuSil Technology LLC is a privately held US company jointly owned by its employees and New Mountain Capital LLC, a New York-based private equity firm. Its board of directors is comprised of leaders from both companies.

Chuck brings over 30 years of global business and life sciences experience to assist in NuSil’s strategy of accelerated growth and expansion in the life sciences and advanced engineering markets.
New Mountain Capital
Matthew Holt has been with New Mountain Capital since 2001, where he currently serves as Managing Director. Matt led the New Mountain Capital investment in NuSil and continues to serve as the lead director for the firm. Matt’s investment experience in the overlapping areas of healthcare and specialty chemicals has helped shape NuSil’s long-term strategy. He joined the NuSil board in 2011.

Matt is Chief Executive Officer for CIOX Health and serves as a member of the Board of Directors. He brings 20 years of experience as a leader in both publicly- and privately-traded healthcare companies and as a specialist in mergers and acquisitions.
