Mary E. Russell, MD, FACC
Dr. Mary Russell serves as President of Trelyst. She is a physician executive with broad concept-to-commercial development experience spanning startup and Fortune 500 companies in the biotech and medical device space. Trained as a chemist, Mary is board certified in Internal Medicine & Cardiology with 15 years’ patient care and research experience at Harvard School of Public Health, Harvard Medical School and Brigham & Women’s Hospital.
During her 6-year tenure as Boston Scientific’s Chief Medical Officer, Mary built an industry-leading preclinical, clinical and regulatory infrastructure that accelerated product approvals (~ 5 PMAs, 25 IDEs, 25 510ks and 300 OUS approvals each year) across 7 divisions. At Boston Scientific, she led the clinical development program, culminating in TAXUS® Drug-Eluting Stent approvals worldwide—the most successful product launch in medical device history with franchise expansion peaking at $3 billion/year.
Mary received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz and her medical degree from Chicago Medical School. She completed her residency at Stanford University Medical Center and her Cardiology Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
