NuSil’s Aerospace & Defense Business Unit Publishes Article on Advancements in Silicone Technology

NuSil Technology's Brian Burkitt and Danielle Peak publish article titled “Recent Innovations in Silicone Technology for Aircraft and Aerospace” in ASI magazine. Adhesives & Sealants Industry (ASI) magazine , a leading publication targeting global manufacturers, formulators, and end users of adhesives and sealants, published a feature article from NuSil Technology’s Aerospace & Defense business unit in its October issue. The article, titled “Recent Innovations in Silicone Technology for Aircraft and Aerospace”, puts forth that silicone’s capacity for design makes it ideal for use in a virtually infinite number of applications.  Explaining some of the ways in which silicone’s versatility makes it a valuable—and, we would argue, irreplaceable—asset to aircraft and spacecraft, the four-page article touts NuSil’s advanced silicone technology through a discussion of our latest highlights for the aerospace industry: silicone film adhesives for peel and stick applications useful in constructing solar cells and satellites; fluorosilicones for fuel and solvent resistance to combat swell in contact with or immersed in various engine fluids; and silicone ice-release coatings to decrease the adhesion strength of ice to aerodynamic surfaces, thereby reducing the number of complications that can be caused by ice for greater flight safety in inclement weather. NuSil is at the forefront of developing high-quality, innovative silicone materials for the aerospace industry for the overall improvement of these end applications.
